Remove Wood Felting and Raised Grain.

Remove wood fuzz (called felting) after power washing or media blasting, and knock down excessive raised grain with Sashco’s finish sanding tools.

How many Buffy Pads Will I need?

Depending on what’s being removed, a single Buffy Pad can cover 150-200 square feet before needing to be replaced. The Grabber Pad should be replaced every 10-15 Buffy Pad changes. The Backer Pad needs to be replaced rarely (every 10 Grabber Pads).

Where to Use:

Exterior and interior wood surfaces to remove fuzzing and ligh discoloration

Where NOT to Use:

Will etch some other building materials. Not recommended for use on stains or coatings still in good shape (won’t be effective).

Removes wood fuzz & raised grain

All of that wood fuzz will interfere with stain adhesion and appearance. Remove it before you stain for excellent stain performance

No switching out constantly

Unlike sandpaper, one buffy pad or Osborn brush can cover hundreds, even thousands, of square feet before it needs to be switched out.

Prep interior wood before clear coats

Excellent for the lighter prep work needed on interior surfaces to get them ready for a clear coat

No rust marks

Made with steel-free materials to prevent rust marks under the stain

Is secondary sanding absolutely necessary after media blasting or power washing my home?

In most cases, yes, but not all. The key is to make sure all of the excess felting and wood fuzz is removed from the surface. Secondary sanding with Buffy Pads or Osborn Brushes is usually the best way to do this. In some cases, there isn’t excess fuzzing, so it’s not necessary. In other cases, the wood grain may be raised beyond what you’d prefer, so secondary prep is desired, but not a must.

Which is better – Buffy Pads or Osborn Brushes?

Buffy Pads work great for light fuzzing after media blasting. Osborn Brushes are a bit more aggressive, so work great on projects that may require more….assertive means of fuzz removal. (Power tools!)
